Happy July everybody! I hope you all had a nice June and are keeping cool. This heat makes me look forward to Autumn but I’m definitely still making the most of summer and want to enjoy it as much as I can regardless of the very hot days (thank GOODNESS for air conditioning and cold creeks to sit in). Anyways, here’s what’s new from this past June~
NEW ART
I just recently turned my Lover’s Eye illustration last month into a printed iron-on patch that I now sell in my shop! Here’s some photos of the patch:
The patches I make are all made by me. I took the Lover’s Eye drawing, then transferred the image onto a carving block where I then carved the design into a stamp, then inked the stamp with oil based ink, then stamped the inked block onto muslin where I then let dry, cut out, and sewed onto a felt backing. Fun fact, the thread I use for sewing my patches is either recycled and/or secondhand and the felt I use is made of 100% post-consumer plastic water bottles! I like to reuse secondhand materials, or use recycled or biodegradable materials as often as I can with my patch production and also packaging.
Here’s a photo of me modeling the lover’s eye patch on my sleeve. I’m wearing my heart on my sleeve, haha:
If you’re interested in buying my newest heart patch, you can purchase them here on my Etsy shop! Mostly all of my patches are made to order.
Another recent project of mine was adding color to an ink drawing I drew a couple years ago. Heres the original drawing from 2021:
And then here’s the same drawing but with color that I added this past June:
I think it would be cool to maybe one day illustrate/design my own card deck. I love playing cards and have a small but growing collection of them.
Well, that’s all the new art from this past month. Here’s some events I have lined up for the month of July~
JULY EVENTS:
In July I only have one art market scheduled as of right now! I will be attending the Greater Goods Night Market at R. House in Baltimore, MD on Friday, July 19 from 5pm - 9pm. The market is also indoors so no need to worry about the heat! Here’s the flyers for the event. If you’re in the area, hope to see you there!
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
In June I finally started a Patreon! If you’d like to keep up with my art faster than my monthly newsletter, feel free to join my Patreon! Everyone can subscribe for free. I do offer additional tiers where I share monthly paid benefits such as:
Sneak peaks of projects I’m currently working on!
Discount codes for my shop!
Access to art, sketchbook drawings I only share on Patreon!
Monthly digital downloads (notecards, paper crafts, calendar sheets, etc. with artwork done by me)!
Monthly vinyl sticker mail (where I mail you a new vinyl sticker that I design every month)!
Right now I currently don’t have any Patrons so there is no posts on there, but as soon as I get at least one Patron I will start sharing on there! No pressure to join a paid tier, as I understand how expensive it can be to get by! I will keep sharing my new art for free on the free Patreon tier, my monthly newsletters, and social media. But if you’d like to join, my eternal thanks! Your support of any kind means so much to me!
That’s all for now. I’m trying to stay off social media much more lately and am eager to continue with some projects I’m working on and start new ones.
Until next month ~
Fireflies and Sunsets,
Kelly
